Osteopathy medicine is complementary to regular medicine, it is not a substitute for it. It is adviced to first consult your primary doctor or specialist, when experiencing physical complaints, to exclude possible underlaying illnesses.
Prior ot your first consult you receive an intake form to fill out. The purpose of it is to obtain an insight in the factors which might inlfuence your physical complaints, such as your medical history or family illnesses.
First Consult
At your first consult we discuss your filled out intake-form, this also includes accidents or surgeries which might influence your current physical complaints.
In addition to a general physical examination a more specific Osteopatic examination follows. This Osteopatic examination tests the mobllity of the parietal, visceral and cranio-sacral systems. Based on the findings I write a treatment plan, which will be discussed. If necessary and desirable a treatment takes place directly after.
Number of treatments
In general 4 to 6 treatments should bring about a strong improvement of your physical complaints. In chronic complaints a follow-up treatment takes place within two to four weeks. With acute complaints, like sport injuries or backpain, treatments can be weekly.
Physical reaction after a treatment
An increase of your physical complaints or tiredness can develop after an Osteopatic treatment. This is a normal physical reaction to the treatment and disappears within a few days. It is adviced after a treatment to take it easy. The day after the treatment physical and sport activity is possible again.
